Sokie just gave Varker a grateful look, before taking the glass. She didn't drink it right away. Instead, she gently swirled it, before bending her head to take in its scent.

Oh. Wow. That made everything she had before smell like rotgut. (To be fair, there was very little drinking the past few years, because some of what was around was, in fact, rotgut).

"Absolutely. If you don't feel up to it, there's no pressure at all." She was surprisingly earnest. "I'll bring over an introductory book."

But...she did have some thoughts. Strange thoughts perhaps but also...well.

"I think you may be one of the folks that, given enough time and practice, may be able to master this kind of magic. Enough at least to learn how to do the shortened version and do it on the fly, if you have a very good understanding of chemistry."
